Pray. Pay attention. Participate. Then, Proclaim!
God is always at work around you.
In your family. In your workplace. In your neighborhood. In your church. In your everyday conversations and ordinary routines.
When you become aware of where He is working, that is your invitation to join Him.
Joining God in His work around us is what the Sent Summer Challenge is all about!
This summer, we’re practicing what we’ve been learning through the Experiencing God framework: God is already at work, He speaks and invites us to join Him, and when we respond in obedience, we experience Him doing through us what only He can do.
Joining God in His work doesn’t always mean going somewhere far away or doing something big and dramatic. Often, it starts right where your feet are.
The Challenge
This month, we’re inviting you to practice four simple things:
1. Pray
Begin each day by asking God: “How are you at work around me today?”
Invite Him to open your eyes, soften your heart, and help you recognize His activity in the lives of the people around you
2. Pay attention
Watch for the needs, the nudges, the conversations, and the opportunities God places in front of you.
Pay attention to what people say — and what they may not say directly.
Someone may mention they’re tired, lonely, discouraged, overwhelmed, grieving, or in need of help.
3. Participate
Awareness of that need is your invitation to join God where He is at work in that person’s life. So, respond! When you see a need, meet a need!
That may look like offering encouragement, sending a text, making a meal, running an errand, stopping by with groceries, praying with someone, being available to listen, or stepping in before you’re even asked.
Sometimes responding may feel big. Sometimes it may feel small.
Either way, God can use your obedience to make a world of difference in someone’s life.
4. Proclaim
When you respond and see God move, we’d love to hear about it!
Maybe someone said, “How did you know that’s what I needed?”
Maybe a simple act of obedience opened the door to a meaningful conversation.
Maybe God used you to encourage, provide, comfort, or care for someone at just the right time.
Maybe you experienced Him doing through you what only He can do!
