Serve in Your Season

No matter what your life looks like right now—God desires to use you as you serve!

Serve in Your Season

What if the very season you’re in is the perfect place to serve? Whether you’re chasing toddlers, carpooling teens, or enjoying a quieter home, this truth holds: you are called to serve. There’s no perfect time—only right now.

Serving isn’t just something you do—it’s part of who you were made to be.

  • 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…” That includes you, in this season.
  • Ephesians 2:10 says that God has prepared good works in advance for you to do.
  • And in Matthew 20:28, Jesus reminds us that He came to serve, not to be served. When we serve, we follow His example—and step into the life we were created for.

It’s not about adding something extra to your to-do list. It’s about letting your life—right now—be used for something eternal.

While we’ve gathered simple, meaningful ways for you to serve right where you are—in the midst of whatever your daily life looks like, we encourage you to first ask God how He desires to uniquely use you. Then after you pray, stop and watch!

“When you pray, watch to see what God does next. Circumstances, the Word, and the Spirit will confirm His direction.” – Henry Blackaby

God is always at work around you… how might He be inviting you to serve in your season? Here are some simple ways you might serve:

Have young kids?

  • Invite a neighbor family over for a meal or playdate
  • Write encouraging notes with your kids and deliver them to nursing homes
  • Bring your little ones along to drop off meals for new moms, foster families, or those in need
  • Partner with a local ministry to pack hygiene kits or snacks as a family

Parenting Teens?

  • Volunteer at events your teens are involved in—sports, school, or church
  • Serve together at a local food pantry or community clean-up
  • Invite your teen to co-lead a project with you—show them leadership starts with service

Empty Nester or Grandparent?

This season isn’t slowing down—it’s opening up. Your wisdom, availability, and experience matter more than ever.

  • Mentor a younger couple, parent, or college student
  • Volunteer at a local school, ministry, or hospital
  • Use your skills—teaching, organizing, hospitality—to bless others
  • Write cards, deliver meals, or open your home for connection
  • Provide respite to a foster family

God has raised up numerous ministries across the state who would welcome you and your gifts! We'll list a few here, and we encourage you to explore local options as well!
