Repeat the sounding J.O.Y.

Repeat the Sounding J.O.Y.!

J -- Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season!

Isaiah 9:6 – “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

This Christmas season, let’s remember what (and who!) it’s all about… Jesus! God sent His Son to be our King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, bringing hope to a weary world.

Throughout the season, we’re playing Jesus-focused Christmas songs alongside worship music to remind us of the reason we celebrate, and to draw our heart toward worship.

For some, joy flows easily this time of year. For others, joy is a choice made in the midst of grief or challenge. That’s why you’ll also hear songs of hope that will prayerfully meet you right where you are and lift your eyes above your circumstances, to Him.

O -- Reflect to Others expressions of His redeeming love!

During the holidays, we naturally cross paths with more people at Christmas parties, school programs, and get-togethers. What if we leveraged those interactions and connections to reflect God’s love in simple, intentional ways?

It’s not adding one more thing to an already full plate. It’s asking, “What am I already doing, and how might I leverage that to express to others His redeeming love?”

For example:

  • Already baking cookies? Bake one more dozen and give them to a neighbor or someone who could use encouragement.
  • Already shopping? Buy one extra gift for someone in need.
  • Already sending Christmas cards? Be intentional about who you include and what you say.
  • Already attending a Christmas event or service? Invite a friend or neighbor to join you.

Already standing in line? Start a conversation with the person next to you. A kind word can make someone’s day.

Y -- Reserve for Yourself time for meaningful reflection!

In all the busyness of the season, it’s easy to forget to create space to be with the One we’re celebrating. This Christmas, let’s take time to quiet our hearts and meet with Jesus.

Here are a few ideas to make space for connection with God:

  • Light an Advent candle and read a short passage from Scripture.
  • Listen to a worship song and let the lyrics become your prayer.
  • Keep a gratitude journal through the Advent season.
  • Spend a few quiet minutes each morning or evening asking, “Lord, where are You at work in my life right now?”
