It’s common for people to view God as disconnected from the pain in the world. If God is so loving, why doesn’t He do this, and why did He allow that? We grumble in our disappointment when we feel like God has let us down… again.
I get it. I’ve had those feelings myself. But I do know that God is not disconnected from our pain. He is well aware of what is happening every day on this sin-cursed earth. As a matter of fact, when sin plunged the human race into rebellion against God, He made the first move.
God didn’t require Adam and Eve to grovel and come crawling back. He didn’t punish the first couple with His fiery wrath. He didn’t walk away, leaving them to suffer the consequences of their choices forever. I’m always shocked at God’s response to the first rebellion. If I were God, I would’ve punished them, but He immediately made a promise—a promise that He would make a way back. Literally, before you could turn the page, God responded to the first sin with compassion and love.
I don’t have answers to all the hard questions, but I do know that when mankind was lost with no hope, He made the first move to offer us salvation and a return trip to the paradise we long for. This is Pastor Bryan Clark, helping to connect you to the God who made the first move.
